How to Spot a Licensed Bronx Dispensary
To avoid unlicensed smoke shops, use this checklist to confirm a dispensary is legal and safe.
- Look for the OCM license number – Licensed stores display their CAURD or adult-use license, like OCM-CAURD-25-000297. If you don't see it, ask.
- Check the OCM website – The Office of Cannabis Management publishes a list of licensed retailers. Cross-reference before visiting.
- Verify age requirements – A legal dispensary will always check ID and refuse entry to anyone under 21.
- Ask for lab results – Licensed stores provide third-party testing results for products. If they can't, that's a red flag.
- Look for professional signage – Licensed dispensaries have clear branding and follow state regulations on advertising.

Cannabis product testing
Cannabis product testing is the process of analyzing cannabis products for potency, purity, and safety. Laboratories check for cannabinoid content, terpenes, and contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals, mold, and residual solvents. This testing emerged as legalization spread, but regulations vary by state, and not all products are equally scrutinized. In a rapidly growing market, testing helps protect consumers from harmful substances and ensures you know what you're consuming. For you, this means choosing a licensed dispensary that provides lab-tested products is essential for a safe and consistent experience.
